In and around Trinidad and Tobago lies a hemline of homes, built just to accommodate sleep and storage. Many of these structures are seen in poverty stricken areas where illegal housing settlements are developed, based on the need to simply withstand the everyday elements.
Anika Williams read of Mapau’s charitable acts in the local newspaper and felt the need to reach out, with the hope of obtaining their support for herself and her 12-year-old son. In January, an earthquake disturbed her tiny abode, bringing the side wall of her home, crashing down. In a letter to Mapau, Anika emphasized that the pillars of her home were affected as a result of the wall’s collapse and as such, she and her son, have since then, been in a constant state of fear for what would happen next.
Explaining that she’d beckoned the assistance of her parliamentary representative for the area, Eddie Hart, Anika went on to say that she’s yet to receive a response. The Mapau Member’s Club has heeded to Anika’s cry for assistance. After receiving a quotation of prices for the necessary material needed to rebuild Anika’s home, Mapau has donated $2500 to the cause and initiated plans to have affiliate company, Mafeking Construction assist in the project.
Mapau and its affiliates stand firmly to each cause of humanitarian decree, proving time and time again that they are a pillar of strength within the community.

The National Organization for Women is a non-profit organization which seeks to assist members of the general public who are in dire need of overall help. Most recently, the organization teamed together with various businesses and general hardwares to complete construction of a concrete structured home for an underprivileged mother of three.
Unfortunately, funding for the project ceased before completion of the overall plumbing and as such, in an effort to obtain additional financing, the organization is now reaching out to businesses like the Mapau Member’s Club.
Mapau has donated $2000 to this particular cause, with the hope that this single mother of three will have a home that she deserves. Once again, Mapau shows assertiveness in the face of adversity!
