Mapau helps in the 'Green Belt Movement'
Ma Pau International has pledged its support, in response to Nobel Peace Prize winner and Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai's worldwide call to plant 1 billion trees in the coming year to help fight global warming.
Wangari Maathai became the first black woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize in 2004, for her contribution to sustainable development, democracy and peace. Maathai is a founder of Kenya's Green Party in 1987, and has been focus on planting trees there to address their crisis. In addition, the Nobel laureate will be conferred this year's Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for her outstanding contribution to humanity.
Global warming is now a worldwide threat and planting trees can offset climate change in part because they absorb carbon dioxide. As a result MaPau is committed and will be contributing to planting trees in ALL countries in which we operate.
Mapau is also going to donate trees to worldwide projects for school, supporting those dedicated students who have joined the cause.
Mapau has been involved earlier in many projects in favour of community - we donated boats for Tsunami victims, sponsored people with disabilities, medical problems, actively supported youths in sports and financially contributed to community development project. We consider it our responsibility to lend a helping hand in this venture as well.
Together we can make a difference.
